Prologue
A lonely girl sat in her windowsill, watching the sun melt into the crimson horizon. A dazed and longing look filled her eyes. She stood up and walked away from the window, not wanting to see any more of where she once belonged. She glanced at the door. She was about to reach for the handle, but restrained herself. She knew Laurel wouldn't be pleased if she left without her. Her feet then carried her to the bed, where a tattered and beaten doll lay. The doll's button eyes seemed to show a lifeless expression, a dull grey.
The sun's burning beam began to melt into the ground, and night fell upon the earth. The moon's soft gleam filled the room as the doll's grey button eyes came to life, now burning a bloody scarlet. The doll sat up, a stitched mouth upturning to a malicious grin. The doll's head turned slowly towards the girl, and the girl drew closer. "The night has fallen upon us...." the doll said in a hoarse voice. "Now...we STRIKE!" the doll hissed, almost shouting the last word.
Suddenly, puppet strings shot out of the doll's arms, grasping the girl with binding power. The girl stood there lifelessly as strings consumed her until she herself became a large puppet. Her eyes became empty, no sign of life found in them, her limbs became like led, dragging her down...down...
